Fun, nature, beauty, practicality. There are not many tourist resorts that can boast all these attractions, but Pila has them all.
Fun, because both in summer and in winter it offers a variety of ways to spend unforgettable moments, in contact with preserved nature, practicing hiking and skiing, but also modern and adrenaline sports, such as downhill and freeride, of which Pila is now a reference center, the scene of international competitions every year.
Beauty, because Pila, in addition to dominating the city of Aosta from the height of its 1800 meters, enjoys a view that sweeps over the highest mountains in the Alps, from Mont Blanc to Grand Combin, from Monte Cervino to Monte Rosa.
Practicality, both because it can be reached from Aosta via a fast cable car and because it is a ski-on-foot station, with direct access to the lifts from its hotels and residences.
What to see?
- Architecture of the ski resort: built in the 1970s, the large building complex that includes residential units and hotels is inspired by the canons of architecture and urban planning of French mountain resorts. It is modeled on the basis of the orography and the landscape of the locality in terms of shapes and colors.
- Hermitage of San Grato: although belonging to the municipality of Charvensod, this lovely chapel dedicated to the patron saint of the diocese can be reached from Pila with an easy and flat panoramic walk.
Pila is undoubtedly the ideal place to practice sports while immersed in a surprising nature, in summer as in winter. In winter, Pila welcomes thousands of snow sports enthusiasts. Downhill skiers and board enthusiasts can count on a ski area of 70 km of slopes for all levels, distributed from an altitude of over 1,500 to almost 2,800 meters. To complete the offer there are also a snow park, freeride slopes, a fun slope, as well as snowshoe trails.
When sport meets tradition:
The torchlight procession at the end of the year is the traditional appointment on December 30th with a fireworks display and a scenic torchlight procession on the slopes with music and entertainment.
In all seasons, Pila has a lot to offer to children. In winter, the little ones in Pila find the ideal environment for their first descents on a multitude of easy slopes and dedicated areas, flanked by the skilled instructors of the local ski schools. Kids already accustomed to skiing can try their hand at the Fun slope with its curves, jumps and parabolics. Pila also offers two playgrounds on the snow: the Fun Park Chacard, equipped with a treadmill, with slopes for snow tubing, rafts, sleds and bobsleighs, and the Baby Ski Snowpark Academy Pila. A synthetic ice rink and two miniclubs complete the offer for families.
A small refreshment with big surprises:
- YETI BAR & RESTAURANT: The Yeti restaurant, located in front of the arrival of the Aosta-Pila cable car, is ideal for your stops in winter for a hot chocolate or a sandwich between one descent and the other and to spend the your days in summer, you will find a playground for the little ones, a heated outdoor pool and a large solarium. Gianni, owner of the restaurant since 1990, will offer you traditional Aosta Valley and Italian cuisine. At lunch the restaurant is characterized by a quick service to satisfy those who love to ski as much as possible, in the evening instead the restaurant is transformed and with a service with attention to the smallest details it becomes the ideal place to savor different dishes every day, from fresh pasta made in home to risotto, from meat to fish dishes. The typical dishes of the Valdostana tradition are always present alongside more refined dishes for those who want to indulge in a moment of culinary pleasure even at 1800 meters.
